Find Out For Sure:

Heartline is here to help you sort through all of the advice coming your way. The first thing you need to do is find out if you truly are pregnant. Heartline can help you by providing a free pregnancy test.

If the test is positive, Heartline can also schedule an appointment for a free ultrasound to confirm a viable pregnancy. This appointment can be anytime after your seventh week of pregnancy.

The second thing you need to do is educate yourself. While abortion may seem like the easiest solution, every choice that you make will have some effect on you. Here are some of the risks of abortion:

Breast Cancer
  • While no conclusive link has been drawn between breast cancer and abortion, here is what we do know:
    • Carrying your first pregnancy to full term gives protection against breast cancer. Choosing abortion causes loss of that protection.
    • A number of reliable studies have concluded that there may be a link between abortion and the later development of breast cancer.

Emotional and Psychological Effects
  • There is evidence that abortion is associated with a decrease in emotional health. For some women these negative emotions may be very strong, and can appear within days or after many years. This psychological response is a form of post-traumatic stress disorder. Some symptoms are:
    • Eating disorders, relationship problems, guilt, depression, flashbacks of abortion, suicidal thoughts, sexual dysfunction, alcohol and drug abuse.

Other Physical Risks Include:
  • Heavy Bleeding
  • Infection
  • Incomplete Abortion
  • Sepsis (total body infection)
  • Anesthesia Complications
  • Damage to the Cervix
  • Scarring of the Uterine Lining
  • Perforation of the Uterus
  • Damage to Internal Organs
  • Death

The third thing Heartline can help you with is sorting through your options. Abortion is not the only option, and we would love to help you sort through the effects of parenting your child or putting your child up for adoption. We understand that this decision is not easy and we want to help you make an informed decision that will be best for you and your baby.
